Unranked on 3 of 4 services and mid-3 star on On3. Odd you only bring that up about Texas DL

Good luck with that ... I lived that for 15 years under Richt ... it will get you what it got us, no NCs albeit some good football.
At the end of the day, stars matter. The more really high end players you get the larger your margin for error when some don't work out. Relying on diamonds in the rough, or being a great developer is not the way to get NCs.

I have no idea. I have made my thoughts clear on the bugs. Services are always slow to move them up and generally underrate them compared to a position like WR. I was just laughing about the hypocrisy

That may have been his point. To some people, good football, not natties, is the goal. 65-7 is not good football.

Not sure how you get that as his meaning. Your outlook on CFB is unique and I respect that. But if you aren’t wanting the highest rated players your team can get, you aren’t following how CFB works. The ass end of 65-7 had three stars with heart. As you stated, that’s not good football.

What he was saying, IMO, was he wants players that are competitors, not prima dona 5-stars. Obviously the goal is to get 5 star players that are competitors.

Yeah, my response was to get 5* that aren't prima donnas. Candidly, I think the best programs get them, but some come through. Bear Alexander is an example, Cox who left UGA for UF was another. A quick trigger to process them is the way to go.
There is also a positional element to this. WR and CBs tend to be more prima donnas than DL, as an example.

That's what happens when you invite recruits to a "BBQ" where chicken fingers and hot dogs are served.

I like to look at star rankings, more as a percentage. We know that each star roughly doubles the odds of being a draft pick. On the aggregate the star rankings are very good. They are not as good on the individual level. Plenty of kids will out-perform or under-perform their rankings. While plenty of 3 stars will play in the NFL, your odds of success are a lot better with a team of 5 stars than 3 stars.

Is there any team hotter on the recruiting trail than the Oklahoma Sooners? Whether it’s 2024 or 2025, the Sooners are simply on fire.
That trend continued Monday night as they land the commitment of 2024 Rivals four-star safety Mykel Patterson-McDonald.

Yup OU backing off him since landing Tatum. You didn't tell me that Caden Durham was a bit of head case. But hang on, Big Boom coming soon.

OU has 2 running backs in the class already and Lsu has none. Makes sense to me.

i get that but his skillset is much different from tatum and the other guy you have
I don't know exactly what to do with him either because he's (imo) not an everydown back.. he's more of a 3rd down and long back who can do damage in space since the kid can fly
But this was a blow to ou.. he was in everyone's calculator.. hope LSU gets him and leaves Simmons for us lol

Welp, we better get Houston now. Another year of supposedly "leading" for these top end DL and whiffing on them. Might be time to start showing Larry Johnson Sr the door.

I really don't understand this mindset. I'm sure a big reason he's going there is playing time. Even after JTT and Sawyer leave (not even 100% sure Sawyer will after this year) we have minimum 4 other EDGE rushers that he'll be behind in Jackson, Abor, Caden Curry, and very likely Joshua Mickens. That doesn't take into account Hero Kanu, Jason Moore, Kayden McDonald who were all top 150 composite overall players, with Will Smith at 165 overall, in the 22/23 classes. Bringing in Justin Scott and potentially Eddrick Houston would be a recruiting haul that basically only UGA and maybe Bama can touch over the last 3 years.
